Community Resilience

Addressing urgent needs today for a better tomorrow

MA FARM RESILIENCY FUND

In July 2023, our Governor and Lt. Governor, in partnership with the community, called upon the United Way of Central Massachusetts (UWCM) to aid in the recovery of hundreds of local farms devastated from a catastrophic storm.

The Fund was a collaborative effort between state leaders, government officials, philanthropists, businesses, and private donations. Collectively 713 donors from 185 towns and cities from 11 states raised $3,225,997. The Massachusetts Resiliency Farm Fund dispersed two rounds of funding to 294 Massachusetts farms: first in September and again in October.

“Thank you for making up for Mother Nature’s bad behavior, for reaching out when we needed it most and creating a community of support for farms just like ours”

- Whittier Farms, Sutton, MA.

“Seeing our state come together to support and help our farmers, businesses and residents during the devastating flooding last summer showcased the best of Massachusetts, working together to help those in need. I'm deeply grateful for the leadership of the United Way of Central Massachusetts for quickly setting up the Farm Resiliency Fund, and to all of our philanthropic partners for making it such a resounding success."

- Governor Maura Healey
