Emergency Food and Shelter Program


Worcester County, MA has been awarded $393,848 through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to support local emergency food and shelter services. A Local Board will distribute funds to eligible agencies.

Awarded federal funds made available from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and from the American Relief Plan Act (ARPA-R) under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.

Eligibility Requirements

Agencies must be nonprofits or government units, eligible for federal funds, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, and demonstrate capacity to provide emergency food/shelter services. Nonprofits must also have a voluntary board.

In previous phases, 25 Local Recipient Organizations received funding to provide food, meals, shelter, rent/mortgage, utility, and fuel assistance.
