This year’s Annual Community Celebration will support our initiative, Raising Readers Together. Currently only 27% of Worcester’s third graders can read with proficiency at the end of third grade, a critical benchmark that predicts later success. This distressing statistic reflects a broad national trend. United Way of Central Massachusetts and the Worcester Education Collaborative are leading an initiative to ensure that all our young people are able to read with skill and confidence. Your donation will enable us to work with families, students, businesses—all sectors to make this happen.
