Worcester Together Fund (COVID-19 Response)

The Worcester Together Fund, created through a partnership between with United Way of Central Massachusetts, The Greater Worcester Community Foundation (GWCF), and the City of Worcester, will help those hardest hit in our community.  The funds will address short-term needs like food, shelter and other emergency issues as they arise, as well as the long-term needs of organizations working with communities disproportionately impacted by the outbreak.  The Fund will complement the work of public health officials and expand local capacity to address the impact of this public health crisis on our region’s vulnerable populations.

The Worcester Together Fund has already disbursed several grants to help agencies in need of immediate financial assistance.  The following organizations have received funding:

  • Boys and Girls Club: to expand hours to serve front line workers
  • Mass 211: to build capacity enabling more employees and more hours to serve the influx of calls during this crisis
  • Living Together in Freedom: to assist with outreach to women who have overcome sexual exploitation
  • Net of Compassion: to help with startup costs associated with opening temporary emergency shelters compliant with public health recommendations and meals for shelter residents
  • YWCA: additional costs to keep women’s domestic violence shelter open during pandemic
  • Catholic Charities: food for those served by their community programs
  • Dismas House: food for those in residence
